The Lobby Lounge at the Inn at Spanish Bay

We're always looking for new Carmel area restaurants/lounges and decided to try the Lobby Lounge at the Inn at Spanish Bay (Pebble Beach).  The Lobby Lounge is located inside the Spanish Bay Hotel next to Roy's Hawaii-fusion Restaurant and the menu is inspired by the same Hawaiian-fusion cuisine.  When we first arrived at this cozy, warm lounge we situated ourselves next to the fire on one of the plush couches.  There was a wonderful Jazz Trio which added to the fun, lively atmosphere.  The appetizer menu wasn't as diverse as the incredible one at Roy's however, it was more than adequate.  A sample of the menu included  a brie cheese plate, spring rolls, California Rolls, prawn cocktail, calamari and a full selection of desserts, just to name a few. We inquired to see if our server had a suggestion to something comparable to the Blackened Rare Ahi served off the Roy's menu and she suggested the "Ahi Poke" appetizer.  This appetizer featured a generous mound of fresh Ahi cubes mixed in a mild salsa consisting of chopped tomato, onions, avocado and a fish roe which gave it a perfect balance without it overpowering the Ahi.  We also ordered the 1/2 lb. Swiss burger served with fries - kind of a strange version of surf n' turf but non the less very satisfying.  The Tempura Short Rib Bites and the Calamari appetizer looked very tantalizing however, that will have to wait for the next visit in a couple weeks.  In summary: great food, great service, great live music and fun, lively atmosphere.  There is also a wonderful outdoor dining terrace with fire pits overlooking the 2nd green of Spanish Bay.
